Our Flagship Program takes Vietnam veterans back to those far distant shores to find solace in the hospitality and acceptance of their once enemy.
It is estimated that America sustained over 58,000 fatal casualties over the course of the Vietnam war. Many families saw loved ones leave, only to receive them back as a folded up flag.
Some, however, returned physically, but never truly really came home. We believe that veterans can lay their war to rest, and finally attain a much needed peace.
Lt Col James "Black Eagle" Williams took part in the inagural program in November of 2019. During his visit to the notorious Hanoi Hilton, where he was held captive for over 300 days, he noticed he was in one of the historic photos. The catharis would go further than imagined when he dined with the widow of the pilot who had downed his aircraft.
They surround us, yet we do not know them. We see their hats, hear them tell stories of war, yet we do not lean in close enough to hear what lies beneath it all.
Valor Unmasked brings to light the real stories and struggles of our combat veterans who daily battle PTSD.
We're creating space for them to be vulnerable and authentic, to share the moments that stay with them forever, and then. through their courage, to see other veterans follow suit.
Unmasked, we can find some small measure of peace.
Unmasked, we can find healing.
